Midway Books in St. Paul, Minnesota was a life-saver for me. I discovered two books there that changed the course of my life. One was Where the Roots Reach for Water by Jeffery Smith, which helped me find the “hidden knowledge” in my depression. The other was Dispatches from Pluto: Lost and Found in the Mississippi Delta by Richard Grant, which helped me put into practice what I learned. Five years after I picked up Richard’s book in Minnesota, our lives joined at the Mississippi Book Festival last September. This interview was one of the greatest moments of my life. Enjoy listening to me tell Richard how he helped me find myself in a tiny town in Southern Appalachia and our conversation about his awesome new book.
